Terms of Use
These terms cover your use of the Wrapped app, made by Jacob Rothenberg ("Wrapped", "we", "us"). By using Wrapped, you agree to them. They add to Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement, which applies to apps from the App Store. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information.
1. What Wrapped is
Wrapped is a personal tool to help you put on tefillin every day. It is not a religious authority. The calendar, times of the day, blessings and wrapping guide are provided for convenience and may contain mistakes. For questions of halacha, ask your rabbi.
2. Your account
- You must be at least 13 years old, or the age of digital consent where you live if that's higher.
- Keep your Apple or Google sign-in secure. You're responsible for what happens in your account.
- An account is for one person.
3. The scan
The daily scan uses AI to check whether you're wearing tefillin. It can make mistakes. If it can't confirm your tefillin after two tries, you can log the day on your honor. The scan is there to help you keep yourself accountable, so please use it, and honor logging, honestly. Only scan yourself, and don't submit images that are unlawful or offensive. The number of scans per day is limited.
4. App lock
App lock is optional and uses Apple's Screen Time. You choose which apps to lock. On tefillin days they stay locked from the morning until you complete your scan, or until sunset at the latest. They aren't locked on Shabbat or Yom Tov, or on Chol HaMoed if that's your custom. Emergency unlocks are limited each month. You can turn app lock off in the app, or remove Wrapped's Screen Time access in iOS Settings, at any time. Don't rely on app lock for anything important. We're not responsible for consequences of an app being locked.
5. Gems and streak freezes
- Gems are a virtual item you can buy with Apple's in-app purchase or earn by reaching milestones. They can only be used in Wrapped, for example to buy streak freezes.
- Gems and freezes have no cash value. They can't be sold, transferred, or exchanged for money.
- Apple processes all payments. Refunds are handled by Apple under its policies, at reportaproblem.apple.com. If Apple refunds a purchase, we remove the gems from it, or the freezes bought with them.
- We may change prices, what gems can be used for, and how freezes work. Changes don't reduce a gem balance you already have.
- Your gems and freezes end when your account is deleted.
- During testing before the App Store launch, gems and freezes may be reset.
6. Acceptable use
Don't misuse Wrapped. That includes trying to get gems or freezes you didn't pay for or earn, interfering with or overloading the service, accessing other people's accounts or data, or reverse engineering the app except where the law allows it.
7. Changes and availability
We may change, add or remove features, and may stop offering Wrapped. We may update these terms. If we make significant changes, we'll let you know in the app or by email. Continuing to use Wrapped after a change means you accept the updated terms.
8. Ending your use
You can stop using Wrapped and delete your account at any time from the app. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms.
9. Disclaimers and liability
Wrapped is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, we make no warranties about it, including that it will be accurate, uninterrupted or error-free, and we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for lost streaks, data or opportunities. Our total liability for any claim relating to Wrapped is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection law.
10. Apple
These terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple isn't responsible for Wrapped or its content, and has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for it. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there, without affecting any consumer protections you have where you live.
